| LOBESTAR®
MIXING EDUCTOR FOR LIQUID AND SANITARY APPLICATIONS (FOOD,
COSMETIC AND PHARMACEUTICAL) |
| Effective
blending and mixing are an essential part of everyday operations
in
most industrial process industries. Specific application requirements
may vary but the ultimate achievement is to have a homogenous product.
The LOBESTAR® Mixing Eductor is effective in speed mixing most
powders and granular materials without the inherent problem of
fisheyes
or microgels. The
LOBESTAR®
NOZZLE is completely recessed out
of the mixing chamber, providing an obstruction free passageway that
eliminates plugging. |
 |
| The
figure on the right is shown with a hopper but custom configurations
are available with a hopper bypass so that a suction hose can be attached
to draw material directly from a bag or tote. |
| The
term "Eductor" describes a jet pump without moving parts
and utilizes fluid in motion to produce low pressure. Motive power
is provided by a centrifugal or gear pump. The pressurized fluid
stream
is converted from pressure-energy to high velocity as the fluid enters
a unique nozzle configuration, known as the LOBESTAR®
NOZZLE. The issuing high velocity jet stream produces a strong
suction in the mixing chamber of the LOBESTAR® MIXING EDUCTOR,
causing a powder, granular material or a secondary fluid to be drawn
through a suction port into the mixing chamber of the LOBESTAR® MIXING
EDUCTOR. An exchange of momentum occurs when the powder intersects
with the motive fluid. The dynamic truculence between the two components
produces an uniformly mixed stream traveling at a velocity intermediate
between the motive and suction velocities through a constant diameter
throat where mixing is completed. The diffuser is shaped to reduce
the velocity gradually and convert velocity energy back to pressure
at the discharge with a minimum loss of energy. |

LOBESTAR®
MIXING EDUCTORS
are available in special materials, such as KYNAR® and UHMW. KYNAR®
is one of the most stable commercial resins. KYNAR® resists strong
acids, solvents and reducing agents. It's inherent chemical resistance
and high
purity make it ideal for contact applications with acids, chlorine, halogenated
solvents and petrochemical mixtures. |
